About the event
Starting the year off with a bang, we aim to reach a goal of 1,000 donations as well as collecting funds to send this shipment of written works all the way to schools in Ghana!
A few reminders and suggestions we HIGHLY RECCOMEND:
- We only accept new and gently used books (preferably paperback, but we accept hardcover as well)
- During this drive we are looking to collect books that rank in the PreK - 6th grade reading level
Topics in books we love to collect include:
- Childrens fiction with broad, universal themes
- Childrens non fiction (ie. reference materials, dictionaries, scientific books)
- Childrens books teaching life skills (physical & mental health, careers, hygiene etc.)
- Childrens books with diverse characters
And things in books we typically try to avoid:
- heavily focused government themed topic
- small dense print which can seem intimidating for younger readers
- language with a lot of slang which might be hard for English learners to follow
- written in any language that isn't english
- topic surrounding North American holidays/religious holidays
- magazines
